Part of Freight Forwarding

Sea freight from Dubai

Cost-effective freight for large and bulk consignments — full-container and consolidated options, fully coordinated.

For large or bulk shipments where the timeline allows, sea freight is usually the most cost-effective way to move cargo internationally. Seemleius sea freight handles the full chain — routing, container booking, documentation and clearance — so the savings of ocean shipping are not offset by the complexity of arranging it.

Sea freight is part of our broader freight forwarding service, and we will be candid about when it is the right choice and when another mode serves you better.

What is included

FCL and LCL options

Full-container loads for larger shipments, or consolidated (shared container) loads for smaller consignments.

Routing & booking

Sensible routing and container space booked to balance cost and transit time.

Documentation

Bills of lading and supporting paperwork prepared so the shipment clears cleanly at both ports.

Customs coordination

Export clearance handled in Dubai and import clearance through our destination partner, with guidance on duties and requirements.

How sea freight works

  1. Brief us on the cargo. Volume, weight, origin and destination, and your timeline — we use this to recommend FCL or LCL and a route.
  2. Quote and book. You receive a clear, itemised quote with the routing explained, and we book the container space.
  3. Collect, pack and document. The cargo is collected, loaded and fully documented for a smooth clearance at both ends.
  4. Ship and clear. Since the Strait of Hormuz closed to commercial shipping in February 2026, the container goes by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the UAE's east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sails from there. Our destination partner handles import clearance, and we coordinate final delivery from the destination port.

Why book sea freight with Seemleius

Sea freight rewards good planning. The savings are real, but only if the routing is sensible, the container is loaded correctly and the documentation is right the first time. Our coordinators plan for exactly that and keep you informed without the jargon — and if your deadline genuinely needs a faster mode, we will tell you rather than letting a shipment miss its date. Request a sea freight quote and we will plan it around your cargo.

Questions people ask about this service

Anything not covered here? A specialist is happy to talk it through.

Contact us
How do I get a quote for this service?

Use the step-by-step quote form — it takes about a minute — or call us directly. Every quote is free, itemised and with no obligation.

Is my shipment insured?

Transit insurance (all-risk cover) is available. Your coordinator explains the cover options when quoting, and the terms are confirmed in your quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most jobs, but we regularly handle urgent work. The sooner you reach out, the more flexibility you have on dates.

Do you handle the paperwork and customs?

Yes — where a service involves customs or documentation, we prepare the paperwork in Dubai, arrange clearance at the destination with our partner for moves abroad, and keep you updated at each stage.

Will I have one point of contact?

Always. A dedicated coordinator owns your job from first quote to completion — no call centre, no being passed around.
