Moving from Dubai to Belgium, door to door
Planning a relocation to Belgium from Dubai or Abu Dhabi? Seemleius surveys and packs your home in the UAE, prepares the export papers and the customs declaration with our Belgian partner, ships your belongings to Antwerp and delivers them to your new address, from a Brussels apartment to a family home in Ghent or Leuven.
We are international movers to Belgium, based in Dubai Investment Park. One coordinator runs your move from survey to unpacking, and our destination partner clears customs and delivers at the Belgian end.
What our removals to Belgium include
Your fixed, itemised quote shows every service before you book. A full household move includes:
- A free in-home or video survey anywhere in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
- Export packing by trained crews, crates for fragile items and art, and furniture dismantled and reassembled.
- UAE export documents and a full inventory of your goods.
- Sea freight in a full or shared container, depending on volume, and air freight for the things you need first.
- The declaration to Belgian Customs and the request for duty-free entry, made with our partner in Belgium.
- Delivery, placement room by room and unpacking.
- Transit insurance available (terms confirmed with your quote).
- Storage in Dubai, short or long term, if your Belgian home is not ready yet.
Belgian customs: duty-free entry for your household goods
Moving from a country outside the EU, you can import your personal goods into Belgium free of duties and taxes. The conditions:
- You have lived outside the EU for at least 12 consecutive months.
- You have owned and used the goods at your former home for at least 6 months before leaving.
- You import them within 12 months of becoming resident in Belgium, and use them the same way there.
- You keep them for 12 months after import. Lending, pledging, hiring out or selling them without telling Customs first revokes the relief, and import duties become due.
How the exemption is claimed: the goods are declared to Customs with a request for the exemption, and the local head of customs at the office of import decides. For cars and other vehicles, the decision rests with the Customs and Excise centre director for your area. Formalities take place during the goods office's opening days and hours.
Arriving before you move in? The goods can be cleared before you settle if you undertake to establish residence in Belgium within 6 months and pay a security deposit.
What we prepare and what you provide: we prepare the inventory and, with our destination partner, the declaration. After the survey, your coordinator gives you the list of personal documents Belgian Customs will want to see in your case, so you can gather them in good time.
Not covered: company vehicles, professional equipment and goods for commercial purposes, which pay duties and taxes. Alcoholic drinks and tobacco are not part of the household relief, and only set quantities can come in exempt. Vehicles, protected plants and animals, and permitted weapons need special formalities; prohibited weapons are seized. Food above certain quantities also needs formalities. A private car can be part of the relief when the conditions are met.
Shipping to Antwerp in 2026
Household containers for Belgium arrive at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, which runs both Antwerp and Zeebrugge, and continue by road to your door.
Since 28 February 2026 the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping. UAE containers now go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan or Fujairah on the east coast or Sohar in Oman, and sail from there. Schedules are longer and less predictable than before.
As a guide, CMA CGM's September 2026 schedule starts at Duqm in Oman and lists 46 days from Duqm to Antwerp, port to port; the road and feeder legs from the UAE, clearance and delivery come on top. We confirm the routing and dates at your survey, and air freight can bring the essentials sooner.
How your relocation to Belgium runs
- Survey: a coordinator visits your home and lists what is going.
- Fixed quote: itemised, and nothing is booked until you accept it.
- Documents: we prepare the export papers and the inventory, and you send us the personal documents on your list.
- Packing day: crews pack, crate and dismantle, and every item goes on the inventory.
- Departure: by road to the departure port, then by sea to Antwerp.
- Arrival and clearance: our partner declares the goods and requests the exemption at the office of import.
- Delivery: furniture is placed and reassembled, and your boxes are unpacked.
Brussels relocation services and deliveries across Belgium
We deliver to homes across Belgium: Brussels and the communes around it, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven and the towns in between. Before delivery day, our partner checks access at your new address, including parking for the truck, stairs and lifts, and plans the vehicle around your street.
- Brussels: apartments, townhouses and family homes. We ask about stairs and lifts at the survey, and if a wardrobe or sofa won't fit the staircase, our partner plans how to bring it in.
- Antwerp, Ghent and Leuven, and the rest of Flanders and Wallonia, on the same plan and the same inventory.
Pets and cars
Pets and vehicles travel as separate services, planned alongside your household goods. See pet relocation and vehicle shipping.
Book your free home survey
The survey is 100% free and there is no obligation. A coordinator walks through your home with you, notes what goes by sea, what goes by air and what stays, and answers your customs questions. A fixed, itemised quote follows.
If you are also talking to a moving company in Brussels, compare like with like: ask who packs in the UAE, who makes the declaration to Belgian Customs, and whether each quote is based on a survey of your home.
Book through the quote form on this page or at seemleius.com/get-quote, or call or WhatsApp us on +971 56 899 2011.

Questions about moving to Belgium from Dubai
Anything specific to your situation? A specialist for this corridor is happy to help.
Contact usHow long does a relocation to Belgium from Dubai take in 2026?
Longer than before. With the Strait of Hormuz effectively closed since 28 February 2026, containers go by road to a port outside the strait, such as Khor Fakkan, Fujairah or Sohar, and sail from there to Antwerp, on longer and less predictable schedules. We confirm the routing and an estimated delivery window at your survey, and air freight is the faster option for essentials.
Will I need movers in Brussels too?
No. Our destination partner clears your goods, delivers them and unpacks, and your coordinator in Dubai manages the whole move.
Will I pay import duty on my household goods in Belgium?
Not if you qualify for the relief: you have lived outside the EU for at least 12 consecutive months, have owned and used the goods for at least 6 months, and import them within 12 months of becoming resident. The goods are declared to Customs with a request for the exemption, and the local head of customs decides.
Can my goods arrive before I move in?
Yes. They can be cleared before you settle if you undertake to establish residence in Belgium within 6 months and pay a security deposit. Alternatively, we can store your goods in Dubai and ship them when your address is ready.
Can I bring my car to Belgium?
Yes, as a separate service. A private car can be part of the relief when the conditions are met; company vehicles cannot. Decisions on vehicles rest with the Customs and Excise centre director for your area.
What does a move from Dubai to Belgium cost?
It depends on the volume of your goods, whether they fill a container or share one, how much goes by air, the packing and crating needed, access at both addresses and any storage. The free in-home survey measures all of this, and you receive a fixed, itemised quote with no obligation.
